August Collection

Wow what a result! 80% of my pots came out of the kiln looking really good. I lost a few pieces to cracks and most of my plates slumped... I need to do some research into that.. But what an amazing first solo firing!!

I set up my little cardboard and tracing paper light box and bought a $3 bouquet from the lady down the road who sells fresh flowers from her garden and I'm really happy with the way the photos turned out.

The full collection is located on my Pottery Gallery page but here is a few of my favourites.

Busy studio week

Some exciting things have been going down in the nicole is nicole studio this week!

After many long months of throwing and decorating I have finally mixed up 3 glazes; a clear and 2 coloured and whacked them on my pots!

Glaze mixing!

Glaze mixing!

The glazing process is not my favourite part of pottery, especially when I've only attempted it twice before with mixed results. Let's just say I have a lot to learn about smooth glazing!!

The glaze sets on the pots in certain colours but this does not indicate what colour they will be when they are fired!

Then finally the most rewarding part of the process, all of my pots were loaded into the community centre kiln for their final firing to 1280•C! They are in the hands of the kiln gods now!  🔥
