Adobe composites

I'm loving creating beautiful composite images from Creative Commons images from one of my favourite resources Unsplash 📷

Grass Layers

Grass Layers

The base of Grass Layers was created using 2 layers of semi transparent images of a skyward-looking shot of glass and metal skyscrapers. Above this is a semi transparent image of tall grass in a sunset. I applied a photoshop effect to one of the skyscraper images to bring in a hue of blue.

Composite Deer

Composite Deer

Composite Deer was created by cropping and tracing an image of deer in a misty sunset or sunrise. Then I layered components of the same image with different effects to build the focal points. Using some striking outlines around vector shapes introduces some bold, animalistic lines and shapes.

Making bowls of all shapes and sizes

It was great to get some time in the studio again this weekend. I decided to work on my bowl shape to try and gain control of my wall evenness and thickness in order to create smooth, delicate forms.

Pulling bowls was a lot of fun and I managed to get a few of them to look similar and I think these 3 to look like a set! Go me!

My wheel is a little wonky which makes for a hard time throwing but hopefully I can get some help sorting it out from the local pottery supply place this week!

Glaze day

So today was my last class at the SA TAFE school of the arts so of course, it was glaze day!

I glazed half of my pots a few weeks ago which all turned out amazingly so I had 12 pieces left to glaze today.

Of course I made a huge mess but had a lot of fun in the process.

This glaze is called tomato and you can see the final result in the sample next to my fresh, wet glazed pot. She's going to look beautiful with some white roses in it!

The before...

And the after... These guys are sitting on the firing shelf ready to be packed into the kiln for a stonewear (super hot) firing! These colours are wicked because at the 1500+ degrees this orange is going to turn into a soft green and the grey will turn into a baby blue with crystals! Magic!

Check back soon for the final reveal!
